AI PRIVACY

AI that helps — without seeing more than it should.

Ask Hunch answers questions about your money and categorizes transactions. Here is precisely what the AI can and cannot see.

The short version

01

Only what it needs

The assistant is handed the specific figures required to answer you — not a copy of your whole financial life.

02

Identifiers hidden

Account numbers and personal identifiers are stripped before anything reaches the model.

03

Never used for training

Your financial data is never used to train AI models — ours or a provider's.

Scoped tool calls

The AI calls narrow tools like "spending by category last month" that return only the numbers needed — not raw access to your accounts.

PII stripped

Before a request leaves Hunch, personal identifiers are removed so the model works with amounts and categories, not who you are.

No model training

Requests are used to answer you in the moment and are not retained to train models.

You can turn it off

AI features are optional. You can disable the assistant and automatic categorization in settings at any time.

What "scoped tool calls" actually means

When you ask Hunch a question, the assistant does not receive a dump of your transactions. Instead it calls specific, narrow tools — for example, one that returns your total spending by category for a date range. Each tool is defined to return only the figures needed for that answer, and personal identifiers such as account numbers are hidden from the model. The AI reasons over anonymized numbers, then Hunch renders the result back to you.

We do not train on your data

Your financial data is used to answer your request in the moment — nothing more. It is not retained to train AI models, ours or a provider's, and it is never sold or shared with advertisers. Paid plans route to higher-quality models for better answers, but the same privacy rules apply on every tier.
