COMPARISON

The best Mint alternative

Mint is gone. Here is what a replacement actually has to do — and where Hunch lands on each of it.

Mint closed on 23 March 2024. Intuit moved accounts to Credit Karma, but only the login came across — transactions, budgets, goals, categories, bill reminders and recurring labels were not migrated, and Credit Karma has no budgeting feature at all.

What closing Mint cost you

  • ·Free bank sync, which most replacements now put behind a subscription.
  • ·Years of categorized transaction history, unless you exported before the deadline.
  • ·Budgets and bill reminders — Credit Karma took over the account but not the feature.

Choose Hunch if…

  • +A free tier that still includes live bank sync via Plaid, the way Mint did.
  • +CSV import for your old Mint export, so the history comes with you.
  • +Budgets, net worth and an AI assistant — including the parts Credit Karma dropped.

WHERE HUNCH WINS

What you get with Hunch

Bank sync on the free tier

Most rivals lock bank connections behind a subscription. Hunch syncs your bank via Plaid even on the free plan.

🔒

CSV import from any bank

If a bank is not supported for live sync, you are never blocked — import a CSV from any institution and keep going.

AI

A scoped AI assistant

Ask Hunch answers questions about your money and categorizes transactions, with personal identifiers hidden from the model.

FAQ

Hunch vs Mint — common questions

Is Mint still available?

+

No. Intuit shut Mint down on 23 March 2024 and pointed users to Credit Karma. Only the account login transferred: transaction history, budgets, goals, categories and bill reminders did not.

Can I import my old Mint data into Hunch?

+

Yes, if you exported before the shutdown. Hunch imports a Mint transactions CSV directly — see the Mint migration guide for the exact steps. If you never exported, that data is gone; Intuit did not keep it.

Is Hunch free like Mint was?

+

Yes, on the same terms that mattered: the free tier includes live bank sync via Plaid and CSV import, not just manual entry. Paid plans start at $4.99/mo for extras like ad-free use and more AI.

What is the best Mint alternative in 2026?

+

It depends on whether you want to pay. Hunch is the closest free replacement — bank sync on the free tier, CSV import, budgets and an AI assistant. Monarch and Copilot are strong but subscription-only, and Credit Karma, despite being where Intuit sent everyone, does not do budgeting.

Your money, minus the subscription.
