Six steps in Claude's own settings, about a minute. After that Claude can answer from your real accounts, transactions, budgets and investments — read-only, and only the categories you approve.
We have not submitted Hunch to Anthropic's directory, so searching Claude's connector list for “Hunch” will not turn anything up. You add it as a custom connector instead, by pasting one address. That takes about a minute, and the walkthrough below is all of it.
None of them costs anything on the Hunch side — connecting is free on every Hunch plan.
Custom connectors work on Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free is limited to one custom connector at a time, so if you already have one you will need to remove it before adding Hunch.
An organization Owner adds Hunch once under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web. Until they do, members cannot add it themselves. After that, each member connects their own Hunch account individually.
Claude reads Hunch from Anthropic's servers, not from your device — the same on claude.ai, the desktop app and mobile. That is why there is no download step, and why the connector has to be a public https:// address rather than something running on your machine. Hunch's is.
Keep this page open beside Claude and work down the list. The names in each step are the labels you will see on screen.
In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors. On the web that is your profile menu → Settings; the desktop and mobile apps have the same Settings area.
https://app.hunch.money/api/mcpA shortcut for step 1: it copies the address and opens the settings screen. It does not connect anything by itself — you still complete steps 2 to 6 inside Claude. Claude's settings address can change without notice, so if the new tab does not land on the Connectors screen, get there yourself as described in step 1.
At the top of the Connectors list, press the + button, then choose Add custom connector.
Put the connector address into the URL field. Nothing else is required. Claude also offers Advanced settings for an OAuth client ID and secret — Hunch needs neither, so leave both blank.
https://app.hunch.money/api/mcpPress Add. Claude then hands you off to Hunch's own sign-in page — your Hunch password and two-factor code go to Hunch, never to Claude.
Hunch shows a consent screen listing each category: accounts and balances, transactions, investments, budgets and goals. Approve the request as a whole. If you share a household, the default is Share only my data — leave it there unless you mean to include your partner's shared data.
Back in Claude, Hunch should now appear in the Connectors list as connected. Ask it a real question — “how much did I spend on groceries last month?” — to confirm it can see your data.
Two screens appear in order: Hunch's own sign-in page, then a Hunch consent screen listing the categories being requested. Approve, and Claude shows Hunch as connected. If you never saw the consent screen, nothing was granted — go back to the step where you pressed Add.

On Team or Enterprise, an organization Owner has to add Hunch once before members can use it. On Free, you get one custom connector at a time — if you already have one, remove it and try again.
Almost always the address itself. It has to be exactly https://app.hunch.money/api/mcp — with https:// at the front and no trailing space. Copying it by hand from a screen is where the stray space usually comes from; use the copy button and paste it in one go.
That is Claude's optional Advanced settings section. Hunch does not use it — leave both fields blank. Registration happens automatically when you connect.
Check which categories you actually approved on the Hunch consent screen — if transactions was left off, Claude cannot see them. Settings → Security → Connected apps in Hunch shows what each connection was granted. And on Free, anything older than 12 months is outside the window on purpose.
There are no write permissions in this release — not restricted ones, none at all.
Never shared with Claude: your Hunch password, your two-factor secrets, and your bank credentials — Hunch never holds your bank login in the first place. What you do approve is sent to Anthropic when you ask a question. That is how it answers, and it lands under their privacy terms rather than ours.
The connection reads exactly as far back as your plan does — 12 months on Free, 24 months on Plus, unlimited on Pro. A Free connection cannot answer a year-over-year question, and it says so rather than narrating a trend it never saw.

That is why the consent screen defaults to Share only my data, and why every other household member is emailed when a household-wide connection is granted.

No. Claude connects from Anthropic's servers rather than from your device, and that is true on claude.ai, the desktop app and mobile alike. There is nothing to install; it does mean the connector has to be publicly reachable over https, which Hunch's is.
No. Claude offers an optional client ID and secret there; Hunch registers automatically and needs neither. Leave both blank.
No, and we have not submitted it. You add it yourself as a custom connector using the address on this page. If that ever changes we will say so here.
In Hunch: Settings → Security → Connected apps. Revoking there ends access within about a minute. Removing the connector inside Claude stops Claude using it, but revoking in Hunch is the step that actually withdraws access.
No. It is free on every Hunch plan, including Free. The only thing your plan changes is how far back Claude can read.
Yes — once you connect a bank account to Hunch, any AI assistant you've added as a connector (Claude, ChatGPT, or another MCP-compatible one) can read its balances and transactions. It can't see anything you haven't connected, and it can't move money.
Yes — that's the main use case. Ask things like "what did I spend on groceries last month" or "am I over budget" and it reads live from Hunch.
Yes. ChatGPT is one of two assistants with a full walkthrough on this site — Claude is the other — but Hunch's connector is built on MCP, the open standard, so it works with any compatible assistant.
